I unfollowed Peters after that post. The Harris design team had to all of a sudden make a whole new brand in a matter of hours. Calling it "uninspired" is just wrong: https://www.yellopolitics.com/p/the-harris-walz-logo-is-here. Thinking people will vote for a presidential candidate based on a logo puts inflated importance on the role of a one single piece of graphic design.

Sorry for the rant.

Thanks for sharing the Yello article. Knowing the backstory of any design can really make you see it differently. Obviously nobody is going to choose one of these two candidates because of a logo! I didn’t think Allan’s “fixes” were very inspired either (the star H for Harris was barely legible) and while the Obama logo he referenced is now iconic, the serif typeface was pretty ho-hum. What I like about the new real Harris Walz logo is its strength and simplicity. It is in some sense boring, but that is a good thing when you’re starting anew and don’t want to force meaning into something before your story has unfolded. You actually don’t see this kind of unadorned simplicity a lot these days.

Yeah, totally.

I appreciate how you present your five things. It invites conversation and deeper thought.

I’ve been enjoying the Friday Five for a while! I find it inspiring and helpful😊I checked out Roman’s Substack and love it! I made a note about using a newer iPhone to take a overhead video with Studio light setting from this post. It’s about time for me to upgrade my iPhone finally! Thank you, Tom!

Thanks for dropping a note, Yumiko! Honestly, I resisted using the iPhone for a long time because, well, it's an iPhone and doesn't seem pro. There's also the pesky detail about it being my phone/messenger/calendar/life as well. For about the cost of a decent new camera, you could get a second iPhone though.
