Thank you Tom! This is an awesome podcast, happy it showed up in my feed today and that life make it so that I can listen to it!

Quick question, I have been trying to have a class on skillshare for years. After many proposals, with no answers, I feel like giving up. Your podcast kind of renew hope. Any tips on how to approach them again?

Hi Yves, thanks so much for listening and for your comment!

Making a Skillshare class is hard work, but it can be really rewarding. Here are some tips that might be helpful:

Skillshare's Sign-up Process for First-Time Teachers — I would start here and read thoroughly.

https://help.skillshare.com/hc/en-us/articles/4415798004493-Get-Started-With-Teaching

Pay close attention to what Skillshare has to say about:

- How Skillshare classes are structured (what makes a good Skillshare class)

- Class Quality Guidelines

- Relevance of Your Class Topic (does it fit within Skillshare's accepted topics? Is your topic in-demand?)

As I mention in this episode, I believe my classes are successful because they are based on these three things:

1. It's something I'm good at

2. It's something others want to learn

3. I'm good at making the subject easy to understand for everyone

Other than that, a good Skillshare class has to be project-centred.

- Consider what your topic is, and what the project to learn that topic will be.

- Or consider what might be a really great project, and then figure out what skills people can learn by making it.

Hope that helps. I also have a useful YouTube video about it: https://youtu.be/Ibi1wT3OUhg?si=famPdKKmefzIoBFj

It's a bit older but I think my ideas are still relevant today.

Thank you!

Wow!!! That’s the best comment and the most detailed I have had in a long time! I will definitely be checking these links, plan a class and retry my luck for a Skillshare to accept my plan. Thank you Tom! ❤️

Nice to hear the podcast is going well, and love what you are doing to help people find their footing in illustration, and your effort to provide some emotional relief for the people effected by the LA fires!

May your podcast grow from strength to strength!
